Why matt smith is the best doctor

It was raining and really windy, but I loved it and would do it again. It was one of the rare brilliant opportunities that you only get with Who.

What was it like filming in 3D? The rigs for the cameras are much heavier and poor Joe, who is our wonderful cameraman, had a very tough time of it. It was like having a 6-year-old or 7-year-old child on your shoulder all day. Though his screen time was minimal, the 8th Doctor has been a part of audio dramas, comics, and novels over the years. We also saw him return for the Day of the Doctor special, putting in a splendid performance as he made his transformation into the War Doctor. The first of two Bakers on our list, Colin played the titular figure from His sharp tongue, and often unkind personality set this new form of Doctor against the fun and flamboyant incarnations that came previously.

Never to be forgotten though, his question mark collars, and bright patchwork jacket kept viewer's eyes occupied. This version of the Doctor sported sonic sunglasses instead of the traditional screwdriver, and loved a distressed chunky knit jumper. Capaldi himself was a phenomenal Doctor, bringing that trademark blend of grizzled warrior and cosmic buffoon, but his episodes were a bit hit and miss. Heaven Sent is among Who's best though.

With just one series under his belt, Eccleston was the face of the Doctor Who revival. Eccleston brought a frantic and wild energy to the Doctor, but when things got serious, oh boy did Eccleston get serious. Sadly, his run lasted only one season, and it really felt like he had so much more to give as The Doctor.

Despite his final appearance in the main series ending in , Doctor 7 appeared in the TV film, handing over the reigns to Paul McGann. The fifth incarnation of the Doctor, and one of the most well known actors to take on the mantle, Davidson piloted the time machine from All of the Doctors share some common characteristics--they are, after all, technically the same person--but they also add something special to each of their roles.

Smith went all out with his Doctor, offering a character with immense depth and complexity, arguably the most of any Doctor yet. It goes without saying that each Doctor before Smith's has an element of the supernatural about him, but Smith's entrance onto the series takes on a certain fairytale-esque quality that adds something new to the show.

When the eleventh Doctor tumbles on-screen, it's into the mossy, ivory-filled garden of a small child who even has a fairytale name-- Amy Pond.

This sets the tone for Smith's time to have an edge of soft magic particular to his Doctor. It's hard to follow David Tennant, an absolutely stunning Doctor who stole our hearts. But many a Tennant fan was pleasantly surprised by what Smith brought to the table. He made the Doctor all his own, but one of the best things about his Doctor is that it does manage to harken back to Tennant every now and again, with his touches of bluntness and a bit of the aloof that mix the eleventh and twelfth Doctors together.

The eleventh Doctor is particularly silly. He loves making good fun out of nearly any situation, even in moments of dire peril.

It brings a unique lightness to an already light show, but one that can indeed have its darker moments. That divisive film scored just 6. An important note: we're sticking to our guns regarding minisodes, but McGann's comeback in 'The Night of the Doctor' scored a terrific 9.

Average episode score: 6. Colin's first full series — the part season 22 — averaged at 7. But his unpopular first story — 'The Twin Dilemma', which makes up the final four episodes of season 21 — scored a paltry 5.

Unsurprisingly, the divisive season 24 McCoy's debut polls pretty low with an average of 5. But from there, it's up and up: season 25 scores an average of 7.

Average episode score: 7. The original you might say , Hartnell's first season — which ran for a mammoth 42 episodes from November to September — averaged at 7. The 39 episodes which make up his second season average at 7. Hartnell departed Doctor Who eight episodes into its fourth season, with his final two stories — 'The Smugglers' and 'The Tenth Planet' — averaging out at 7. The Fifth Doctor's final run, season 21, is considered his best, scoring 7.

Next is his debut, season 19, with an average of 7. After taking over from Hartnell, Second Doctor actor Patrick Troughton appeared in 35 of season 4's 43 episodes, with his batch scoring an average of 7. His second run, Doctor Who 's fifth season, is often considered one of the show's very best and here averages a very respectable 7.
